Emergency Information to Save in Your Phone

Don’t rely on memory in crucial moments. Whether you want to keep this info for yourself or a loved one, the following is a list of potentially life-saving information you should keep in your phone in case of an emergency.

Poison Control Center

If you’re dealing with an overdose, the National Poison Control Center may be able to assist you: 1-800-222-1222

Where to Find Narcan

Narcan saves lives, and it’s important to keep on hand when dealing with substance abuse or to reverse an opioid overdose. You can find where to buy Narcan near you at this link.

Local Hospital Info

Everyone has 911 memorized, but it may not be suitable for all scenarios. Save local emergency room numbers, just in case.

Save Directions to the Closest Hospital

Save directions to the nearest emergency room with adjacent streets and local landmarks or use the Hospital Locator link from Medicare.

Crisis and Suicide Hotlines

For immediate and live assistance in a moment of crisis or suicidal ideation, keep these numbers in your contacts:

Immediate Addiction Support

Get 24/7 help from The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) via their crisis line at 1-800-622-HELP. Here you can also receive information on local treatment and support groups.

Trusted Emergency Contacts

Save the phone numbers and addresses of close friends, family members, and neighbors who can be helpful in an emergency.

Therapist or Counselor Details

If you or a loved one are already seeing a therapist or counselor, be sure to save their contact info and any emergency/after-hours lines they have available.

Leveraging Your Community Resources

Your community is full of compassionate, generous people ready to help those in need. Leverage them as a built-in support system as they can offer practical guidance along the road to recovery. Some opportunities for community support include:

You are not alone in your recovery journey. Many, many people in your city are also working towards lifelong sobriety. While recovering may mean distancing yourself from triggers such as old groups of friends, it doesn’t mean you can’t have a rich social life. Looking for sober-friendly groups or activities that don’t involve alcohol can help you acclimate to your new drug and alcohol-free normal.

Types of Addiction Treatment

Professional treatment options offer you or your loved one the highest level of success in recovery. With evidence-based substance abuse treatment and holistic interventions, you’re not just healing from the past or present, you’re building a healthier future. At Alpas Wellness, we provide an incremental path to wellness, helping you build strength and resilience with each step.

Detox

The first step in any treatment program is detoxification. Detoxing allows you to approach recovery with a healthier mind and body so that you can fully focus on what’s important: your healing.

Inpatient

Once you have completed detox, the next step is inpatient treatment. Inpatient treatment provides a high level of support with 24-hour monitoring, medication management, and a structured therapy schedule so that you are fully immersed in your recovery.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

A PHP program is a step-down in recovery care. During this stage of recovery, you live at your own home or in a sober living house, but you attend individual and group therapy sessions on a full-time basis.

Intensive Outpatient

This stage in recovery is less intensive than PHP, but still provides a structured recovery environment. Throughout your intensive outpatient program, you will attend therapies multiple times per week as you begin to integrate back into the community.

Outpatient

The least intensive level of care, an outpatient program is for those who feel confident in their recovery and feel that they have the tools and coping skills to avoid relapse while they transition back into their daily lives. During this stage, therapy sessions are still integral, but less frequent.

Aftercare and Sober Living

This phase of recovery is one of the more difficult as you leave the structure of the inpatient or outpatient programs and reintegrate back into everyday life. When formal treatment is over, there is still work to do and support to pursue.

Aftercare programs are tailored to each individual as part of your treatment plan and may include ongoing therapy, counseling, and medication management. Sober living programs often include the transition into sober housing, long-term support groups, AA meetings, NA meetings, and more.

Choosing a Drug Rehabilitation Center

While the choice of treatment is a deeply personal decision, there are several considerations to keep in mind before making your selection.

Location

Do you want to stay close to home or put some space between you and a familiar environment? Your answer to this question could determine whether you are considering a treatment center in your own backyard or on the other side of the country.

icon

Environment

What kind of environment do you thrive in? Something upbeat, bright, and colorful? Something sterile, cold, and medical? Or something natural, green, and luxurious? Consider the atmosphere where you want to recover and choose a center that matches that vibe.

icon

Insurance

Most recovery programs can be covered all in part by your insurance. Contact your insurance carrier to find out which centers are part of your plan, or contact Alpas Wellness, and we can help.

Therapies and Treatment Interventions

The addiction and mental health recovery industry has several gold-standard treatments that should be a part of any program, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and medication management. However, a treatment center that is truly going above and beyond will have more to offer than simply the basics. Look for unique approaches, treatments, therapies, and interventions that set the treatment center apart from others.

Community

Consider the community of other participants in the treatment program and the things they have to say about their experience. Is there ongoing recovery support from a group of like-minded peers? Are they supportive or competitive? What does the aftercare program look like in terms of practical support? These are the questions to ask yourself before attending treatment.
