Marcus joined Alpas Wellness in the fall of 2023 as their Executive Director. Prior to Alpas, he served as Chief Executive Officer at Capital Region at Recovery Centers of America. In this role, his responsibilities included overseeing a team of world-class addiction professionals, providing superior substance use disorder treatment. He also interacted with the local community, extending the support and resources available through RCA. Prior to this role, Smith served as Clinical Director at the facility. Before joining RCA, Smith served as Executive Director of Calvary Healthcare and Intensive Outpatient program, Director of a 54-bed Adolescent Residential Treatment Center for Adventist Behavioral Health and Wellness Services, as well as overseeing the RTC graduate internship program. Smith is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland, Washington D.C. and Virginia, specializing in the treatment of adults suffering from depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, sexual trauma and trauma generally. He is also a member of The American Colleges of Healthcare Executives, a clinical member of the Association of the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, and holds affiliations with American Counseling Association, Maryland Counseling Association, DC Mental Health Counseling Association, among other clinical professional bodies
In addition, Marcus specializes in working with Adults suffering from therapeutic issues including depression, anxiety, substance abuse disorders sexual trauma and trauma. Marcus has worked in an array of professional areas such as school’s outpatient clinics and hospitals. His approach and ability to focus and hone-in troubled areas that adults are experiencing has lead to tremendous results.
Marcus is a member of The American Colleges of Healthcare Executives, a clinical member of the Association of the Treatment of Sexual Abusers. Furthermore, he also holds affiliations with American Counseling Association, Maryland Counseling Association, DC Mental Health Counseling Association, National Certified Counselor, International Association of Trauma Professionals and a Maryland, DC and Virginia Board Approved Supervisor. Marcus also is a board member for Bowie State University’s counseling department and for Unique Hoops afterschool academy. He has lectured at Bowie State University and teaches workshop courses to students preparing for their national licensure.
Over the years, Marcus has received numerous awards and recognitions due to his hard work and dedication to the Substance and Mental Health Community. In his spare time, Marcus likes to spend time with his family, watch movies and exercise.
